Description

Discover our omnidirectional condenser microphones, designed for superior audio capture with low noise and high sensitivity. This characteristic makes it highly versatile and suitable for musicians who seek a natural and accurate reproduction of their instruments’ sounds, from low to high frequencies. Field recorders also benefit from this microphone’s broad and even frequency response, as it ensures that environmental sounds are captured faithfully, making it ideal for recording ambient noises, nature sounds, or any audio where accuracy and clarity are paramount. The microphone body, crafted in-house from Portuguese cork, is not only eco-friendly but also visually appealing and offers excellent acoustic properties.

This set comes with our own Furry Windfilters for using your Cortiça Microphone in very windy conditions, made out of recycled synthetic fur and ABS. (Slip)fits our microphones perfectly. Our tests of these Furry Windfilters against a Cortiça microphone without any windfilter has shown an overall reduction in wind noise of around -25dB in strong winds (25-31 Mph, 39-49 km/h, 22-27 knots).

This set includes two Cortiça microphones, two microphone mounts, two Furry Windfilters and a user manual.
The microphones will be sensitivity matched to a minimum of 0.5dB @ 1kHz.

Frequency Response

We test each microphone we produce and produce a frequency response diagram for every microphone. We use these tests to optimally match two different microphones from the same batch. The slight rise of around 8dB you see around the 3 – 9kHz mark  indicate that the microphone boosts these frequencies slightly. In the higher frequencies, a boost adds clarity and brightness to the sound. This can enhance the detail and presence of instruments like cymbals or violins that have significant high-frequency content. It also makes vocals sound more airy and open.

Interfacing with Accessories:

You can use Cortiça with all microphone mounts for 19-20 mm enclosures. We produce and sell a simple microphone mount for Cortiça and our other products. We also offer a simple Foam Windfilter and our more advanced Furry Windfilters. When using the microphone with our mount, which is a perfect press-fit, please make sure to press the microphone gently into the mount, all the way up to the cork section, before connecting the XLR cable. If you encounter resistance, turn the mount around 180 degrees. When removing the microphone from the mount, first remove the XLR cable and then gently push the microphone out of the mount from the backside, while holding the plastic mount around the microphone.

*The tripod, recorder and stereo bar on the photos are not included in this set.
