Description

The Electromagnetic Sound Probe is a mono, passive electromagnetic sensor that you can use to pick up sounds from the electromagnetic spectrum that are outside of . It works without the need of phantom power with a standard XLR pre-amplifier. It is significantly more sensitive than other common electromagnetic pickups, such as telephone pickup coils and can be used to sniff out sounds from all the electronic devices that surround us.

When ordered in a pair (or more) we recommend a slight deviation in the amount of windings of the probes. This will offer a more interesting stereo field experience for both player and listener (hear the samples below for some examples). When you would like to receive two identical ones (±0.1mH in difference), please send a message along with your order during the checkout process.

Sound Samples

All recordings were made with a stereo pair of Electromagnetic Sound Probes plugged into a TASCAM DR-40X. These recordings are not processed with EQ or any gain.
