Calling all Berlin field recordists. On Saturday 24 August we gather on Tempelhofer Feld for an afternoon picnic: to meet, to share the sounds and stories we have collected, and to celebrate the strange craft of pointing microphones at the world.
Bring your recordings and play them, or simply come and listen to what others bring back. Talk about gear and tricks, about how you found a sound and what it taught you. Between the snacks there are two short talks, on collective listening, on sound work as an art form, and on how recordings can reveal the social fabric and history of a place: from the calls of street vendors to the city’s ambient hum.
